PROGRAMS & EVENTS

Through P.L.A.Y.S. we offer a variety of programs and events that we feel support our families and youth on the ASD Spectrum and that also fall in-line with our Mission Statement.  At our events we always offer qualified "Respite Works" to support our youth and allows parents some free time.  We also pride ourselves in exclusivity and include siblings/friends in all of our programing.

PROGRAMS OFFERED

Dance and Movement Class
This one-hour weekly program is run in partnership with Mabel Hernandez, owner of Dance Obsessed Studios and certified dance instructor.  Mabel is kind and patient with our children who learn at different levels and different ways.  In this program the children start out doing stretches, learn various dance moves, and finish with some calming yoga poses.  Throughout the course of the program the children learn a dance routine which they perform for their parents and friends during a recital.

Cooking
This two-hour weekly program is offered to children ages 8 and up.  The children learn kitchen safety and how to use kitchen appliances.  They also learn about food groups and healthy food choices.  They are taught food preparation, how to use kitchen gadgets properly, how to read recipes, and measure ingredients.  The children are included in all aspects of cooking from setting the table to clean up.  Once the meal is prepared the children sit together to enjoy their food creations and practice table manners.

Builders Block Club
This 1.5-hour weekly program is for children ages 6 and up.  Children come together once a week to explore many different types of building blocks and build all kinds of structures using instructions or their imagination.
